Moderator commands

Warn, time out, kick, ban and clean up channels with slash commands.

The commands

The commands work as soon as the Moderator module is on. reason: is always optional (up to 400 characters); the reason shows in the log and is sent to the member.

/warn user: reason:Warn a member.
/warnings user:Show a member's latest 15 cases and their number of active warnings. Only you see the reply.
/unwarn user: case:Remove one warning by its number in case:, or leave case: empty to remove them all.
/timeout user: minutes: reason:Time out a member for 1 to 40320 minutes (up to 28 days).
/untimeout user: reason:Remove a member's timeout.
/kick user: reason:Kick a member from the server.
/ban user: reason: duration:Ban a user. An empty duration: means permanent.
/unban user: reason:Unban a user. Pick them from the list of banned users.
/purge amount: user:Delete up to 100 recent messages in the channel, optionally only from one user.

Temporary bans

With duration: you pick how long the ban lasts: 1 day, 3 days, 7 days, 14 days, 30 days, 3 months, 6 months or 1 year. When the time is up, the bot lifts it by itself.

You can also ban a user who has already left the server. A new ban or an unban replaces an earlier temporary ban, so an old countdown never lifts a newer ban.

Unban from the list

Banned users are no longer members, so /unban shows the server's list of banned users in user: instead. Type part of the name or ID to search. You can also paste a user ID directly.

About /purge

/purge looks at the latest 100 messages in the channel. With user:, only that user's messages among them are deleted. Discord does not allow deleting messages older than 14 days this way, so those are skipped.

Who can use them

By default the commands are only shown to members with the permission they need:

  • /warn, /warnings, /unwarn, /timeout and /untimeout: "Moderate Members".
  • /kick: "Kick Members".
  • /ban and /unban: "Ban Members".
  • /purge: "Manage Messages".

On top of that:

  • You cannot use the commands on yourself.
  • The server owner, members with Administrator and members with one of your Immune roles cannot be moderated.
  • You can only moderate members below your own highest role. The server owner always can.
  • For timeout, kick and ban, the bot's role must be above the member's, and the bot needs the permission for that action.
