Automod

Let the bot remove bad words, links, invites, spam, caps and more on its own.

Get started

  1. 1Turn on the Moderator module and open it in the dashboard.
  2. 2Go to the Automod tab.
  3. 3Switch on the rules you want under Automod rules.
  4. 4For each rule, pick what happens when it is broken.
  5. 5Click Save.

Automod checks every new message and also messages that are edited. If a message breaks several rules, only the first rule the bot finds is used.

The rules

  • Bad words: whole words and phrases from your list, in any case. Separate them with commas or new lines, up to 300 words.
  • Server invites: links like discord.gg, discord.com/invite and dsc.gg.
  • Links: every link except those under Allowed domains. An allowed domain also covers its subdomains, so youtube.com also allows m.youtube.com.
  • Spam: too many messages in a short time. You pick the number of messages (3 to 20) and seconds (2 to 60). The default is 5 messages in 5 seconds.
  • Repeated text: the same message 3 times within a minute, one character 15 times in a row, or one word 6 times in a row.
  • Excessive caps: over 70% capitals in a message with at least 10 letters. Emojis, mentions and links are not counted.
  • Excessive emojis: more emojis than Max per message: (1 to 50, default 10).
  • Excessive spoilers: more ||spoilers|| than Max per message: (1 to 50, default 5).
  • Excessive mentions: more mentioned users and roles than Max per message: (1 to 50, default 5). @everyone and @here count as one.
  • Zalgo text: text with lots of marks stacked on top of each other.

What happens

  • Delete message: the message is deleted.
  • Warn member: the message stays, but the member gets a warning.
  • Delete and warn: the message is deleted and the member gets a warning.

Whatever the action, the bot posts a short note in the channel saying why. It disappears again after 8 seconds.

💡 Warnings from automod count towards your Automatic punishments, just like warnings given with /warn.

Exceptions

Under Exceptions you can pick Ignored channels and Ignored roles (up to 50 of each). Threads in an ignored channel are ignored too.

Automod never touches:

  • The server owner and members with Administrator.
  • Members with the "Manage Messages" permission.
  • Members with one of your Immune roles from the Punishments tab.
  • Bots and webhooks.
⚠️ Since admins and people with "Manage Messages" are skipped, you cannot test automod on your own account if you have those permissions. Use a test account without them.

See what automod does

If you have set up a log channel under Audit log, messages removed with Delete message show up as automod deletions with the message content. Warnings from automod are logged like any other warning.
