Welcome and goodbye messages

Welcome & Goodbye has four parts that you turn on one by one: a welcome message in a channel, a private message to new members, automatic roles, and a goodbye message when someone leaves the server.

Everything is set up in the dashboard. The module has no slash commands. Bots that join or leave the server are not greeted or said goodbye to.

1. 1Open Welcome & Goodbye in the menu and turn the module on with the switch at the top of the page. You can also turn it on from Overview.
2. 2Turn on Welcome message with the switch on its card and pick a Channel.
3. 3Choose Text message or Embed and write your message. The preview on the right shows it with you as the new member.
4. 4Click Save.
5. 5Click Send test to see the message in Discord. The test uses you as the new member.

A Text message is plain text of up to 2000 characters. An Embed is a box with a coloured edge, and here you can set:

• Text above the embed (can ping): plain text above the box. A mention inside an embed does not ping, so put {user} here if the new member should get a notification.
• Title (up to 256 characters) and Description (up to 4000 characters).
• Color: the colour of the box edge.
• The member's avatar: Small, in the corner, Large, below the text or Do not show.
• Name and round avatar on top: the member's name and avatar above the title.
• Timestamp: shows when the message was sent.
• Footer (up to 200 characters). By default it says Member {member_count}.

Click a placeholder below the text field to insert it. The bot replaces it when the message is sent:

• {user}: mentions the new member. In the title and footer it becomes the member's name.
• {user.name}: the member's display name.
• {user.username}: the member's username.
• {user.id}: the member's Discord ID.
• {server}: the server's name.
• {member_count}: the number of members on the server.
• {server.owner}: mentions the server's owner, without pinging.

Turn on Private message to new members to send new members a DM. You write it the same way as the welcome message, as text or an embed. With Attach the welcome card, the card you designed under Welcome message is included.

Below the message there is a grey button saying Sent from and the server name, so the member can see where it came from.

Turn on Automatic roles and pick up to 10 roles that every new member gets. If the server uses membership screening (rules you must accept), the member gets the roles once the rules are accepted.

Turn on Goodbye message, pick a Channel and write the message as text or an embed. The placeholders work here too, so you can for example use {user.name} to show the name of the person who left.
