Types, modes and confirmations

The difference between reactions, buttons and dropdowns, what each mode does, and how to word the confirmation.

Types

  • Emoji reactions: members react with an emoji to get the role and remove the reaction to lose it. The bot adds the reactions itself. Every option needs its own emoji, and there is room for 20.
  • Buttons: one click gives the role, and another click removes it. Each button has a label, an emoji or both, and you pick one of four colours. There is room for 25, five per row.
  • Dropdown: members pick roles in a menu. What they pick they get, and the panel's other roles are removed. Each option needs a label and can have a Description (optional). There is room for 25.

Modes

  • Default: members can have as many of the panel's roles as they like.
  • One role only: members can have just one role from the panel at a time. Taking a new one removes the old one. In a dropdown only one can be picked.
  • Reverse: emoji reactions only. Reacting removes the role, and removing the reaction gives it back.
💡 With One role only on a reaction panel, the bot also removes the member's other reactions on the panel. That needs the bot to have the Manage Messages permission in the channel. Without it the role still switches, but the old reactions stay.

Confirmations

With buttons and dropdowns, the bot can send a message only the member can see, saying which roles they got or lost. Turn it on or off with Send confirmation to user. Errors are always shown.

With buttons, the confirmation has an Undo button so the member can undo right away. You can write your own texts, otherwise the default text in the member's language is used:

  • When the user gets the role: up to 300 characters. Default: You got {role}.
  • When the role is removed: up to 300 characters. Default: {role} was removed.
  • Undo button text: up to 80 characters, buttons only. Default: Undo.
💡 Write {role} in the text where the role should appear. The role is shown as a mention, but nobody is pinged.
