Set up your welcome channel

Build a fixed welcome post with banners, text boxes and pictures, and put it up in one channel.

What the module does

Welcome Channel makes a fixed post in one channel, for example with a welcome, links, rules and an invite link. The post is built from elements: banners with a heading, text boxes and pictures. Each element becomes its own message in Discord.

It is not a message for each new member. To greet people when they join, use Welcome & Goodbye. The module has no slash commands.

Getting started

  1. 1Open Welcome Channel in the menu and turn the module on with the switch at the top of the page. You can also turn it on from Overview.
  2. 2Pick a Channel under Welcome channel.
  3. 3Pick a look under Theme.
  4. 4Edit the content under Content. There is already a starting post that you can edit right in the preview.
  5. 5Click Save.
  6. 6Click Publish at the top of the page. Only now does the bot put the post up in Discord.
💡 Saving changes nothing in Discord. Next to Publish you can see whether it is Published or whether there are Saved changes are not published.

Theme

The theme decides how all banners look, so they match. Start from a ready-made look (Sunset, Frost, Neon, Forest, Midnight or Retro) and adjust it afterwards:

  • Background: Colour, Gradient, Image (click Upload image) or GIF, where you search for a GIF from KLIPY.
  • Show text on the banners: only with an image or GIF. Turn it off if the background should be shown without text on top.
  • Darken background (keeps text readable): 0 to 80%.
  • Font: Pacifico, Poppins, DM Serif, Bebas Neue or Press Start (pixel).
  • Heading colour: the colour of the banner text.
  • Text box colour: the colour new text boxes get. When you switch to a ready-made look, text boxes in the old colour follow along.

Content

You edit everything right in the preview. Add new elements with the buttons below the post:

  • Add banner: a wide picture with one heading of up to 40 characters. Click the text in the banner to edit it.
  • Add text box: an embed with a title, description and its own colour. With Add column you get up to 25 columns with a heading and text or links.
  • Upload picture or GIF: at most 1 MB. Larger pictures are scaled down if possible. A GIF over 1 MB cannot be used.

Use Move up, Move down and Remove next to each element. The post can have up to 20 elements. Reset to default brings back the starting post (welcome, links, rules, mods and invite link).

💡 The starting post is written in English. Edit the texts to fit your server, and remember to replace the example links.

Placeholders

  • {server}: the server's name.
  • {member_count}: the number of members when the post is published.
  • {invite}: a permanent invite link (text boxes only). The bot uses the server's vanity link if there is one, and otherwise makes a link that never expires.

Publishing again

  • If anything changed, the bot deletes the whole post and posts it again. That way the messages do not get Discord’s “edited” mark.
  • If you switch channel, the bot removes the old post and puts it up in the new channel.
⚠️ The bot must be able to post in the channel. If it cannot, publishing fails and you see Last publish failed next to the button.
