Game servers with live status

Show live status for Steam games and Minecraft in a channel, and get told when a server goes down or comes back up.

What does the module do?

RimFrost keeps a status message up to date for every game server you track. It shows whether the server is online, the player count, game, map, version and address, and who is online if the server shares that. When the server is down, it shows when it was last seen online.

  • Steam games, such as Icarus, DayZ, Valheim, Rust and ARK. The bot asks the server’s query port.
  • Minecraft (Java).

The status message updates every minute. A server counts as down after 2 failed checks in a row, so one lost answer does not cause a false alarm. You can track up to 10 game servers per Discord server.

💡 Turn on Game servers on the Overview page first. While the module is off, the servers are not checked.

Add a game server in the dashboard

  1. 1Open Game servers in the dashboard.
  2. 2Under Add game server, type a Name to show in the status message.
  3. 3Pick the Type: Steam game (Icarus, DayZ, Valheim, Rust, ARK …) or Minecraft (Java).
  4. 4Type the Address as host or host:port, for example play.example.com:27015.
  5. 5Pick the Status message channel.
  6. 6Optionally pick a Down/up alert channel. If you leave it on Same channel, alerts go to the status message channel.
  7. 7Click Add. The status message is posted right away.

The list under Game servers shows each server with a dot: green is online, red is offline and grey is still checking. To stop tracking a server, click the cross and then Remove?. The status message is deleted.

The right address and port

  • For Steam games, use the query port, not the game port. It is usually 27015, and that is what the bot uses if you leave the port out.
  • For Minecraft, the bot uses port 25565 if you leave it out. If your domain has an SRV record, the bot finds the port by itself.
  • The address must be reachable from the internet. Private and internal addresses are rejected.
💡 A server that is offline right now can still be added. If it shows offline while it is running, check the address and that the query port is open in the firewall.

Down/up alerts

When a server goes down, the bot posts a short message in the alert channel. When it comes back up, it posts that too, with the player count.

Commands
