Game roles and LFG
A button panel where members pick game roles, and /lfg posts with a Join button that ping the game’s role.
How it works
The module has two parts. The role panel is a message with one button per game. When a member clicks, they get that game’s role, and clicking again removes it. With /lfg anyone can look for players. The post pings the game’s role, so the right people see it.
Set up the role panel in the dashboard
- 1Create a role in Discord for each game, for example "Icarus".
- 2Open Game roles & LFG in the dashboard.
- 3Under Role panel channel, pick the channel and click Save.
- 4Under Game roles, pick a role in Pick a role. Optionally type a Game name on the button and an Emoji. Without a game name, the role’s name is used.
- 5Click Add game role. Repeat for each game.
- 6Click Publish at the top to put the panel up in Discord.
Changes in the dashboard only reach Discord when you click Publish. If you move the panel to a new channel, the old message is deleted.
Which roles can be used?
- The panel can hold up to 25 game roles.
- The role must not have moderator or admin permissions, because anyone can click the button and get it. @everyone and roles that belong to a bot or integration cannot be used either.
- The bot needs "Manage Roles", and the RimFrost role must be above the game role in Server Settings, Roles.
- You can only add roles below your own highest role. The server owner can add any.
- The emoji must be a normal emoji or one from the server.
/lfg cannot ping it.Look for players with /lfg
Anyone on the server can use /lfg in a channel. The post shows the game, how many players are still needed and who has joined. If the game name matches a game role, that role is pinged.
- Join adds you to the group.
- Leave takes you out again.
- Close ends the post. The host and people with "Manage Messages" can do this.
When the group is full, the bot pings everyone in it. The post closes by itself when its time is up. Each person can have up to 3 open posts at a time.
